Identify the transmission
Match the transmission fitted to the car before buying fluid. The CVT uses Acura HCF-2; manual models use Acura MTF.

Keep fluids separate
Do not mix HCF-2 with other transmission fluids. The owner manual directs fluid-level checks and replacement to a dealer rather than an owner dipstick or drain procedure.

Understand the temporary exception
For the manual transmission only, API-certified SAE 0W-20 or 5W-20 motor oil is a temporary fallback if MTF is unavailable. Replace it with MTF promptly: continued motor-oil use can impair shifting and damage the transmission. This exception does not apply to the CVT.
