Prepare safely
Wear eye protection and gloves. Keep sparks, flames and loose metal tools away from battery terminals. Remove the battery cover for maintenance.

Inspect
The battery should remain securely mounted with a clean, dry top. Terminals and connections should be clean and tight, protected with petroleum jelly or terminal grease.

Escalate
Mazda directs battery replacement to an authorized dealer. This inspection does not provide a load test or authorize opening a sealed battery. Wash hands after handling battery components.
