2024 C-Class SmartKey: replace the CR2032 battery

Replace the coin cell in the illustrated W206 SmartKey and check that both covers close securely.

STEP 01

Open the housing

Press the release knob; withdraw the emergency key. Use its tip in the end opening to release the outer cover, without holding it shut. Lift the inner covering using the emergency key.

STEP 02

Replace the cell

Tap the old cell into your palm. Fit the new cell positive-side-up using a lint-free cloth; avoid contamination.

Close both covers

Engage inner-cover front tabs; press both sides shut. Engage outer-cover front tabs; close fully. Reinsert emergency key. Recycle the used cell.
