Install the stem
Protect the bumper finish while removing the tow-hook cover. Where threads are corroded or exposed to road salt, use the supplied anti-seize and the specified penetrating-oil preparation. Tighten the stem with a 3/4-inch socket to approximately 40 ft-lb.

Position the holder
Use at least one washer between stem and holder and another between holder and retaining bolt. Orient the holder and tighten that bolt to about 20 ft-lb. Add supplied washers behind the holder if more bumper clearance is needed.

Attach the plate and inspect
Fit plate and frame with the M6 screws and washers, hand-tightened only. Confirm that nothing touches the car. Do not bend the holder more than five degrees. Recheck hardware after two or three days, then monthly.
