STEP 01

Inspect monthly

Check the battery terminals for corrosion. This is an inspection, not an instruction to disconnect the battery or replace its monitoring sensor.

STEP 02

Respect the sensor

A sensor on the negative terminal monitors battery condition. If the driver display reports a sensor problem, have the car inspected by a dealer.

STEP 03

Work safely

Keep sparks and flames away. Battery gas can explode; battery maintenance requires protective clothing and a face shield, or a skilled technician. Wash hands after handling battery components.

STEP 04

Consider disconnection effects

A dead or disconnected battery disables the audio system; Canadian models also require immobilizer reset. Preserve the relevant owner-manual recovery instructions before battery work.
