Know what the sensor measures
A mass-airflow sensor measures incoming air for engine control. Poor running associated with an airflow fault can overlap with ignition, fueling or intake problems. Delphi emphasizes live-data and system diagnosis rather than identifying a failed sensor from symptoms alone.

Preserve the evidence
Save fault codes and freeze-frame data before clearing them. Note any recent filter, intake or wiring work. Inspect accessible connectors and duct joints with the engine off; do not touch the delicate sensing element or spray it with an arbitrary solvent.

Request a proper comparison
A technician can compare expected and measured airflow under defined conditions and check power, ground and signal paths. Unplugging the sensor and observing a change is not a complete diagnosis. Keep the old part until the repair is verified.
