Confirm the filter and layout

MANN-FILTER lists CU 25 001 for the F30 family and provides illustrated fitting instructions. Confirm your exact car in the catalog and compare the footwell layout with the drawings; this guide follows the illustrated passenger-side arrangement. The cabin filter is separate from the engine air filter. Lay out a light, appropriate trim tools and the correct driver for the cover screws.

STEP 01

Remove the lower trim carefully

Switch the vehicle off. Move the passenger seat back for access and protect the carpet. Remove the lower footwell panel, supporting it while disconnecting the attached light or other illustrated connections. Do not let the panel hang by its wires. Photograph the connector positions so they can be returned without guesswork.

STEP 02

Exchange the element

Remove the filter-housing cover and slide the curved filter out. Note the housing’s airflow markings and the replacement manufacturer’s orientation instructions; an incorrectly installed old filter is not a reliable reference. Remove loose debris without pushing it into the blower. Guide the new element into the curved opening without tearing or crushing its frame.

Reassemble and test

Close the housing evenly, refit its fasteners and reconnect the trim’s electrical plugs before reinstalling the panel. Confirm that nothing hangs into the footwell. Test blower operation and the disconnected light. Persistent odor, wet carpet or water on the filter warrants further investigation; a fresh element does not repair an ingress or drainage problem. Record the filter and mileage for the next service.
