A spacer changes position
A spacer moves the wheel outward. For the same wheel, effective offset equals the wheel’s stated offset minus spacer thickness: ET35 with a 10 mm spacer becomes an effective ET25. That arithmetic describes position only. It does not establish safe clearance, correct hardware or approval for a particular car.

Measure both sides of the trade-off
Moving a wheel outward creates more space on the suspension side but uses space toward the fender. Inspect the actual tire, wheel shape and suspension configuration. A photograph of another F30 is not a measurement. Evaluate loaded travel and steering clearance with a competent installer rather than selecting thickness from the parked gap alone.
Hub and fastener compatibility
Turner’s reference explains why hub engagement and spacer construction matter, including limitations around thin hubcentric spacers. Check hub lip geometry, spacer seating and the wheel’s center bore. Wheel fasteners need the correct thread, seat style and engagement for the complete assembly. Do not apply a single bolt length to every F30 wheel and spacer combination.
Build the order as a matched set
Give the supplier the wheel model, width, offset, center bore, tire size and proposed spacer thickness. Ask for the compatible spacer and fastener combination and the exact installation instructions. Verify that mating faces are in suitable condition and that the spacer sits fully flush. Never stack parts to compensate for an incorrect fit.
What to do if vibration appears
A new vibration is a reason to inspect the installation and component match, not simply to tighten bolts further. Stop and have seating, centering, fasteners and clearance checked. Use the appropriate vehicle and component instructions for tightening and any specified recheck.
If the wheels already fit and function correctly, a spacer is an aesthetic choice rather than a required upgrade. A different wheel offset may be the cleaner solution when you are still choosing wheels.
