Choose the two operating modes
Before connecting, select F for a gasoline vehicle or EV for an electric/hybrid vehicle. Select P to allow parking mode, or D to disable it. Record the selected positions.

Connect and check power
Locate the diagnostic socket using the vehicle manual. Align the connector and seat it firmly without forcing it. Check the cable LED, then connect the camera and confirm normal startup. Stop if it will not seat.

Check the view before fixing the mount
Clean the inside glass, attach the camera to its mount and hold it in the proposed position. Use the camera display or the appropriate Thinkware app to check the view. Only expose the adhesive when the lens, sightline and sensor clearance are correct. Review recorded footage after mounting.

Allow the parking transition to finish
With P selected, switch off the engine and observe the transition. Thinkware specifies the configured standby period plus roughly five minutes for gasoline vehicles, or ten minutes for EV/hybrid vehicles. The default standby is 30 seconds and can be set to 1–5 minutes.

Finish with an actual recording check
Play back a newly recorded clip, then check startup again. Confirm the secured cable stays clear through the full seat adjustment and pedal travel while parked. If parking mode still fails after the documented delay, record the vehicle, camera model, cable revision, switch positions and observed LED state for support. Do not improvise fuse taps or splice wiring to make this plug-in cable work. This guide covers the cable setup, not a complete hardwire installation.
