CCTA P0101: inspect the MAF-to-turbo connection

Find inlet-side leaks that can cause MAF plausibility faults without a boost leak.

Vehicle / platform
VW/Audi second-generation 2.0T applications such as CCTA reporting P0101.
Tools
  • VCDS or compatible diagnostic tool
  • Vehicle-specific repair information
Parts / supplies
  • No replacement part selected by the code alone
STEP 01

Inspect the inlet side

On engines such as CCTA, check for leakage between the MAF and turbo inlet. Ross-Tech explicitly notes that this can trigger P0101 without being a boost leak. Inspect this section even when the pressurized charge plumbing looks sound.

STEP 02

Check restrictions and connections

Check the air filter and any fitted snow screen. Inspect sensor wiring, connectors and grounding points; corrosion or paint residue at grounds is a listed cause. Exhaust restriction also belongs in the diagnosis.

Escalate with a specific question

If these inspections do not explain the fault, request sensor plausibility and intake/exhaust restriction tests for the exact engine. Do not transfer Ross-Tech’s older-TDI logging recipe to a gasoline CCTA.
