VW/Audi P1297: trace the pressure drop before changing valves

Choose the correct inspection branch for a turbo-to-throttle pressure-drop fault.

Vehicle / platform
VW/Audi applications reporting P1297/17705.

STEP 01

Check both air paths

Inspect hoses and pipes between components for leaks. Include the vacuum and PCV system, not only the large charge-air hoses. Inspect the diverter valve and N75 boost-control valve according to their application-specific tests.

STEP 02

Consider throttle condition

A dirty throttle body is another listed cause. If cleaning is justified, use the correct cleaning and throttle-alignment procedure for the engine; the code page alone is not a disassembly instruction.

A useful BPY branch

For the North American BPY 2.0T, Ross-Tech references breather-valve bulletin 2018919. Abnormally strong crankcase vacuum at idle can accompany breather failure. Confirm the bulletin application before replacing anything.
