Same diameter does not mean same tire
Changing the width or aspect ratio changes the nominal outside diameter as well as clearance. Two tires labeled with the same nominal size can also differ in actual dimensions by product. Check the approved wheel-width range and vehicle requirements rather than deciding from the sidewall code alone.
Load, pressure and drivetrain
Use the vehicle’s specified load capability and appropriate pressure guidance. The sidewall maximum is not your everyday pressure target. Confirm front/rear pairing for xDrive and distinguish square from staggered wheel setups. Do not treat a calculator’s percentage difference as manufacturer approval.
What to save when shopping
Record all four current sizes, the desired tire product, load/speed ratings, wheel widths and the car’s placard information. Send that complete set to the tire supplier. Keep a written fitment confirmation if moving away from the original specification.
