Target the contamination
Griot’s describes iron-removal products as a way to address ferrous contamination before further preparation. A reaction can show contact with iron particles; it does not measure clear-coat thickness or establish that the paint needs polishing.

Follow the surface limits
Work on a suitable cool surface, test an inconspicuous area and follow the product’s dwell and rinse directions. Do not let the chemical dry or assume every wheel finish, wrap or matte coating is compatible. Wear the label’s recommended protection.

Inspect afterward
Rinse thoroughly and reassess the clean finish before claying or polishing. Keep chemical and mechanical steps purposeful. If a mark remains, identify whether it is bonded material, staining or damage rather than repeating a stronger application indefinitely.
