Read the product’s timing instructions
Gasket makers differ in assembly window and required cure before filling with fluid or returning to service. A surface that feels dry does not prove the entire joint is ready. Identify the exact product rather than relying on a generic overnight rule.

Use the specified joint method
Confirm that the vehicle calls for sealant at that location. Follow its bead placement, surface preparation and tightening sequence. Adding RTV to a preformed gasket that should be installed dry can create a leak rather than prevent one.

Avoid excess material
More sealant is not a stronger seal. Squeezed-out material can enter the assembly, so use the prescribed amount and allow the required cure. If the schedule cannot accommodate it, choose an explicitly approved faster-curing product instead of shortening the wait arbitrarily.
