Set the correct scale

Check whether the specification uses newton-meters, foot-pounds or inch-pounds before setting the wrench. On TEKTON’s 24330 micrometer wrench, the main and handle scales work together. Use its manual to read the selected value rather than treating the rotating scale as a separate total.

Stop at the first signal

Pull smoothly at the handle grip and slow down as the fastener tightens. Stop when the wrench clicks; continuing to pull adds torque. The click can be subtle near the lower end of the range.

Store and use it correctly

The 24330 instructions specify storage at its lowest marked setting, not below it, and prohibit using it to break loose stuck fasteners. Other wrench designs can have different storage instructions. If the required torque is outside the tool’s rated range, use an appropriate wrench.
