Start with the original specification

Subaru recommends original-equipment tires and, when changing brands, the same size and style as originally equipped. For a 2020 WRX, verify the actual trim’s tire specification rather than borrowing a size from an STI or another year.

Measure the remaining set

Record all four tire models, sizes and tread depths. Ask the installer to check the vehicle’s matching requirements before recommending a single replacement. The manufacturer FAQ does not supply a universal acceptable tread-depth difference, so this guide does not invent one.

Plan around the complete set

Tell the fitter about seasonal tires, aftermarket wheels or any previous replacements. Obtain a recommendation based on the actual set and manual. A tire that mounts on the wheel is not automatically an appropriate match for the vehicle’s other three tires.
