Two different directions

Too much crankcase pressure can push oil past seals. Excessive vacuum can also cause running and oil-consumption problems. The appropriate pressure target and test arrangement depend on the engine.

Sources 1

What to record

Note cold versus warm behavior, whether the sound changes at idle, recent repairs and where oil first appears. Do not buy a separator solely because the oil cap feels difficult to lift.

What a workshop should verify

Use the correct pressure-measurement procedure, then inspect the relevant ventilation components and connections. An engine code is needed before choosing a repair; the listed chassis do not all have the same assembly.
