Find the correct limit
Use the rotor marking and vehicle service information for the exact disc. Minimum thickness is application-specific. Do not reuse a number from another axle, optional brake package or visually similar rotor.

Inspect more than one point
Have the disc measured with appropriate equipment away from misleading wear lips and assessed for surface condition. Cracking, heat damage or other defects can require replacement even if a single thickness reading appears acceptable.

Plan the axle as a system
Include pad condition, caliper operation and hardware in the assessment. Ask the workshop to record the measured thickness and limit on the invoice. This gives the next service a useful baseline rather than a vague statement that the brakes “look fine.”
