Three different signals
The oil-life system estimates when service is due. The dipstick measures oil level under the manual’s checking conditions. An oil-pressure warning is a separate, potentially urgent problem. A high remaining-life percentage cannot make a low oil level or pressure warning safe.

Plan and document service
Chevrolet calls for an oil-and-filter change when indicated and at least annually. Reset the oil-life system after the actual change, not to clear an inconvenient reminder. Use the exact engine’s viscosity and approval requirements.

Between changes
Check the level at the specified intervals and document additions. A falling level, leak or pressure warning requires assessment independently of the service countdown. Bring the product label and recent service record if a problem starts after an oil change.
