Check the cold marks
Read the reservoir when the engine is cold; the coolant should be between minimum and maximum. Hot coolant expands, so a hot reading above the cold mark is not a reliable basis for draining fluid. Never open a hot pressurized reservoir.

Use the specified product
Ford calls for approved coolant at the specified concentration. Prefer the correct prediluted product; if an approved concentrate is used, follow the manual’s dilution instructions. Do not select by color alone, mix unknown products or add stop-leak pellets as a routine fix.

Track repeated additions
If the level keeps falling, arrange an inspection. Record how much was added, product identity and mileage. A visible leak or overheating needs immediate attention; do not wait to reach an arbitrary loss threshold. Refit the cap correctly and check the cold level again after service.
