A released parking brake may not be in service mode
Some electronic parking-brake systems require a specific workshop mode for pad replacement. A general scan-tool claim of EPB support does not guarantee coverage for every model, year or control unit.

Plan before dismantling
Check the exact vehicle procedure and the tool’s current function coverage. Secure the vehicle against movement and follow the specified preparation. Do not force a piston back or operate the parking-brake switch while components are disassembled unless the service instructions explicitly require it.

Complete the exit procedure
Follow the guided process for leaving service mode and any required calibration or function check. Confirm normal pedal and parking-brake operation before the vehicle moves. If communication fails or the actuator behaves unexpectedly, stop and resolve it rather than improvising around the warning.
