Start with the vehicle’s sleep behavior
Control modules can remain awake after shutdown. Measure against the vehicle’s specified sleep conditions and current limits rather than treating an immediate reading as a parasitic drain. Opening a door or reconnecting equipment can wake modules again.

Protect the meter and circuit
A meter in current mode is not connected like a voltage measurement. Never place it directly across the battery in that mode, and never crank the engine through a series-connected meter. Use rated equipment and the correct fused inputs; unfamiliarity with the setup is a reason to use a technician.

Isolate without losing the pattern
Fluke discusses current measurement and voltage-drop testing across fuses. Check aftermarket equipment as well as original circuits. Record timing and conditions, since an intermittent wake-up can be missed by a single reading. Do not replace the battery repeatedly without investigating a confirmed recurring drain.
