Start with the vehicle’s job
PowerStop positions Z23 for everyday performance-oriented driving and Z36 for truck and towing use. These are intended-use distinctions, not evidence that one compound is universally better or that either increases the vehicle’s rated towing capacity.

Compare complete applications
Look up the exact vehicle, axle and brake package. Compare the supplied pad hardware, compatible rotors and installation requirements. A product-family name alone does not establish that a kit fits a particular trim or optional brake system.

Keep expectations realistic
Assess cold braking, noise priorities, dust and the frequency of heavy loads. Manufacturer descriptions are not independent stopping-distance tests. For repeated demanding use, have the whole brake system inspected and choose a supported package rather than expecting a pad swap to fix worn components or an overloaded vehicle.
