Measure from the correct point

Thule’s hatch-clearance check uses the distance from the center of the front crossbar to the point where the roof meets the hatch. Compare that measurement with the specific box’s fit information. Overall box length alone cannot answer the question.

Respect rack placement

Do not move a crossbar outside the vehicle fit kit’s permitted position just to make the box clear. Check allowable bar spread, clamp compatibility and the roof load rating together. A box that avoids the hatch can still be an incompatible installation.

Check carefully after mounting

Open the hatch slowly and watch the spoiler and upper edge before allowing full travel. Verify clearance using the vehicle’s normal opening behavior. Record the fitted overall height too, particularly if the vehicle regularly enters a garage or covered parking area.
